I'm looking forward to hearing about how companies can practically take on this
thinking which does makes sense. The question is how can they be shown the
advantage of such an approach especially if they are "resistant" to new
ideas...

Hi Rob,

Great to have you here
We have had great feedback and a lot of
interest from business people from all walks. We are constantly hearing that
businesses need this thinking because strengths are not played to at all, least
of all even truly realised.

You pose a good question. "How can a business
be shown the advantage especially if they are resistant to new ideas".


We demonstrate that though the thinking is a shift in paradigm, perception
and thought the realisation of what we do is not a ‘new’ idea, management
technique or best practice, rather a way of thinking. That is, the ability to
demonstrate that the skills, strengths and resources are already in-house, it is
therefore a question of interception and then utilisation.

In a way it’s like
getting a look at behind the scenes of an illusionists act. We see the illusion
but do not know how it works. In business we see the results; (the illusion) but
do not know how they are produced. We therefore invest in other methods
(illusions) in an attempt to repeat the same illusion rather than attempting to
understand how the illusion works in the first place. So rather than attempting
to reproduce the results by applying band aid solutions or other untried
concepts (we mean untried within your own specific business field), use what is
already producing results, albeit randomly, and understand HOW they are, and DO
produce the results.

This is where Strengths of the Business come into play.
By intercepting the skills, steps, strategies and processes of star
performers/teams and or the business itself we intercept these, that is, we make
them known and then look for repeatable patterns. Once found the steps,
strategies skills etc can then be used as either a baseline training for the
teams or recruitment criteria.

Put it this way, we have all heard of rapport
and its value in building relationships, if you don’t know how to build rapport
then it becomes a random event until it happens. However if you know that
rapport is built through body matching and mirroring, this means that it can be
applied by will. That is it can be used consistently to get the same result time
after time. It is therefore now an act of will and not chance event. The same
applies to business strengths. When known they can be applied consistently to
produce the same results again and again.
What we look for are patterns of
consistency and effect.

So like rapport, that at one level, already happens
as part of your natural behaviour, on another level when you are consciously
drawn to HOW rapport works, it becomes a shift in paradigm. It is not a new
concept or idea to you because you already do it, know that you do it and know
that when you have it you get results. Therefore what we do is re-direct your
attention to the business that gets results, we show you HOW those results are
achieved and the steps, strategies skills and behaviours that produce them. This
means results become predictable, business becomes predictable, your market
becomes predictable. Success is predictable and repeatable.

I hope this
clarifies a bit more about the thinking behind Strength Based Business and our
methodology.
